Supporting Local DIY Builds - Werboards 2.0 & Ralph’s Ramp
Ralph’s Ramp
Despite the loss of Daveside and the Slasher bowl, the Bristol DIY scene is still ploughing ahead at full steam, with a swathe of crews putting in the necessary blood, sweat and tears to make things happen.
Local legend and GB Olympian Jordan Thackeray contacted us with a dream of getting a big-boy half pipe built in the Cumberland Basin - we put some visuals and dimensions together to help with the crowdfunding process.
The crew eventually met their funding target and got to work on the build, resulting in one of the best wooden half-pipes in the southwest, with a 5 foot mini-ramp and an 8 foot section for getting extra burly.
Humongous admiration and props to the crew that made this happen.

Werboards 2.0
When the Werboards’ crew lease ran out on their Bedminster studio (which housed a perfect 4 foot mini-ramp) they decided were ready for bigger and better things. After much searching they came across the new Fishponds location and instantly fell in love - the new space could easily accommodate a much wider mini-ramp - with a “to-the-ceiling” vert wall, pool coping extension and a full bowl corner on one end!
As avid mini-ramp enthusiasts ourself and friends of the crew, we were more than happy to stump up the cash for the corner coping.
Here’s the video of the bowl corner coping being brought to life by Wheelscape homie and Bristol scene stalwart Tom Mansfield of Mansfield Fabrications (aka Poacher Man - IFKYK).
